The second Avengers: Doomsday trailer confirms something devastating.
Thor is already dead.
Doom arrives in the MCU and targets Thor’s daughter, Love, because she carries a fragment of Eternity. Love senses the danger and warns Thor. Thor leaves her in New Asgard under Valkyrie’s protection and goes to warn the Avengers.
That decision costs him everything.
Before Thor can do anything, Asgard is attacked. He opens the Bifrost and rushes back, only to find his home destroyed, Valkyrie defeated, and Love standing in Doctor Doom’s hands.
Without thinking, Thor attacks Doom.
And he loses.
Doom completely overpowers him using both magic and science. Everything goes dark. Thor dies.
When he opens his eyes, he’s no longer alive. He’s in a strange forest, between life and death, realizing he failed his daughter. That’s when he falls to his knees and begs Odin for one thing only — enough life to save Love one last time.
