In the What If…? episode, both the zombified Iron Man and Captain America met their ends.
But why is only Captain America shown in the Marvel Zombies trailer, with no sign of Iron Man?
The answer largely boils down to how each of them died.
In the zombie-focused episode of What If…?, Banner barely escaped being devoured by Zombie Iron Man and the others.
Just when things looked dire, Wasp’s ant swarm suddenly appeared and consumed Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian.
Seeing this, Iron Man tried to fight back—but Wasp quickly decapitated him with a blade.
What’s more, her mount even ate his severed head.
Later, on the train heading to the safe base, Sharon Carter’s screams caught Bucky’s attention.
When he rushed over, he walked in on Zombie Captain America feasting on Sharon.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Bucky jumped into a fierce fight with Captain America.
In the end, he used Cap’s own shield to split his body in two.
Additionally, from the animated segment where Spider-Man explains how to kill zombies, we learn that only a direct, effective hit to the head can take down a zombie for good.
Since Iron Man’s head is completely gone, it makes perfect sense he doesn’t appear in the Marvel Zombies trailer.
We can also make a bold guess: Zombie Captain America in the Marvel Zombies series might not have a lower half of his body.
